About Us

Messrs Sivananthan was established on 15th March 1995 by its Principal Partner and Founder, Datuk N. Sivananthan. The Firm was set up as a boutique litigation-based practice made up of young, talented lawyers with an uncompromising standard for top-quality legal work. The practice grew from strength to strength and at its peak, comprised of some 16 lawyers with around 40 support staff. The original firm was made up of 3 departments: Construction and Arbitration, Civil and Corporate Litigation, and Criminal.

In 2009, the Partners felt that it would be prudent for each department to establish itself as a boutique litigation practice in its own practice area and Sivananthan then re-established itself as a boutique criminal litigation practice, the first of its kind in Malaysia. The firm's sole focus on criminal work has ensured that the lawyers and staff are fully conversant with the unique features of the criminal justice system and the firm is also fully equipped with all the necessary resources to provide top-end legal service to our clients.

The reborn Sivananthan has now expanded into a multiple lawyers firm, which is still growing and is now the largest criminal boutique practice in this country. Clients who come to us know that no stone will be left unturned in providing the best representation required, from the investigation, trial, and right up to the appellate stages. The breadth of experience from its lawyers stretches right up to 28 years with frequent, if not, daily appearances in the most serious and complex cases at all levels of the Malaysian Courts.
